Israel cites more Lebanon rocket fire

UNITED NATIONS, Oct. 28 (UPI) -- The Israeli ambassador to the United Nations says the world body should investigate a rise in rocket fire coming across Israel's border from Lebanon.

Ambassador Gabriela Shalev has filed a complaint with U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and the president of the U.N. Security Council about increasing instances of Katyusha rocket fire at Israeli territory, Ynetnews.com reported Wednesday.

In lodging her complaint, Shalev reportedly said such rocket fire has risen alarmingly, noting that Israel has been warning for three years that the Lebanese Shiite militant group Hezbollah is renewing its military infrastructure along the Israeli border.

Ynetnews.com said Shalev also accused Hezbollah of violating U.N. Resolution 1701 by harassing and threatening peacekeepers in the region.
