Town cracks down on teen streakers

ST. FRANCIS, Minn., Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Authorities in St. Francis, Minn. may charge a teenager with criminal sexual conduct for streaking during a high school football game, police say.

The 17-year-old's arrest last month culminated a practice that began several years ago at St. Francis High School's homecoming games, the Minnesota Star Tribune reported Wednesday.

Police Chief Jeff Harapat says after three streaking incidents this season, authorities were prepared with blankets and handcuffs for anyone who decided to streak at this year's homecoming game.

Harapat says the arrest of the homecoming streaker prompted an angry demonstration by fellow students who left the stands.

"It was on the edge of being out of control," he said. "More than 500 kids surrounded the two officers, swearing, throwing pop bottles and tennis shoes."

Harapat says this isn't the type of behavior that he and others want to shrug off as "kids will be kids."
