Fake school bus held $1.7M worth of pot

LAREDO, Texas, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- A bus marked to resemble a school bus from the Laredo United Independent School District in Texas held $1.7 million worth of marijuana, officials said.

The driver of the bus ran away when a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper pulled the bus over on a road north of Laredo Saturday, KSAT-TV, San Antonio, reported.

The bus was carrying 5,408 pounds of marijuana, police said.

The DPS is investigating the matter.
