KINSHASA, Democratic Republic of Congo, Jan. 27 (UPI) -- A U.N. peacekeeping unit in the Democratic Republic of Congo was set to help authorities following a lightning-caused explosion that killed more than 20 people.
Martin Kobler, head of the U.N. peacekeeping mission known by its French initials MONUSCO, said in a statement Saturday he was putting the mission on standby to help local authorities deal with the tragedy.

MONUSCO said about 50 people were injured in the Friday blast at a weapons depot in Mbuji Mayi near the center of the country.
The DRC is in the midst of a fragile truce between government forces and the March 23 Movement.
