TEHRAN, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- A new world order is needed where dominant powers are no longer create false crises by bullying smaller nations, the Iranian president said.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, addressing international delegates at a symposium in Tehran, called for a new world order where Western powers are no longer dominating the global hierarchy.

"The Iranian chief executive stated that the world's dominant powers deliberately bully the smaller nations, who are not in conflict with one another, thereby creating artificial problems between them," state-funded broadcaster Press TV reports.

Iran is accused by several countries of working on technology needed to produce a nuclear weapon. Tehran described the latest visit by U.N. nuclear inspectors as "constructive," though monitors said more work was needed on transparency.

The U.S. and European governments sanctioned Iran's energy sector in response to nuclear concerns.

Ahmadinejad submitted a budget proposal to Iranian lawmakers this week that was 5.6 percent less than last year's budget. The budget is meant to reduce the government's reliance on oil revenue, Press TV reports.
