CAIRO, July 13 (UPI) -- Student protesters in Egypt said Wednesday they were calling for Friday protests to give the military a last chance to meet the demands of the revolution.
A group calling itself the Union of Revolution Youth called for protests dubbed "Final Warning Friday," Egyptian newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm reports.
The group said the protest would serve as a final warning to the ruling military council to address outstanding demands left over from the revolution that brought down the government of Hosni Mubarak after three decades in power.
The union said several members of the interim government were members of Mubarak's disbanded National Democratic Party and others weren't vetted property.
The group said that the Egyptian people had given the military council the right to lead the transition and could easily remove that authority.
Protesters occupied the main square in downtown Cairo for a fifth consecutive day Wednesday. They are demanding swift justice for members of the Mubarak regime. The country's deputy prime minister resigned this week and interim Prime Minister Essam Sharaf said he would reshuffle his Cabinet.
Elections for a government to replace the military-led council are expected later this year.
