TEHRAN, April 14 (UPI) -- Iranian presidential contender Mir-Hossein Mousavi reached out to Principlist rivals in the hopes of ruling with a unity government, party officials said.
Mousavi is running for the Iranian presidency along with former Iranian Parliamentary Speaker Mehdi Karroubi on the Reformist ticket.
Former Iranian President Mohammad Khatami bowed out of the race early in the contest, citing concerns over unity on the Reformist slate. Pressure is mounting for Karroubi to step aside as well.
Meanwhile, Qorban Behzadiannejad, Mousavi's campaign manager, said the former prime minister is looking to consider all opinions should he win the June contest, Press TV reports.
"Mir-Hossein Mousavi stresses the importance of using the expertise of both camps in running the country's affairs," he said.
The rival Principlist slate has not unveiled its candidate for the presidential race, though it is expected that incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will seek another term.
Tehran Mayor Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf was expected to run on the Principlist ticket, but he recently said he would not position himself as a candidate against Ahmadinejad.
