WASHINGTON, April 14 (UPI) -- The head of the FBI announced the appointment of new special agents in charge of the agency's San Francisco and Honolulu operations.
FBI Director Robert Mueller named 30-year agency veteran Charlene Thornton as the new Honolulu division special agent in charge. Thornton takes over for Janet Kammerman, who has been appointed to the FBI headquarters human resources branch, where she'll serve as the associate executive assistant director, the FBI reported.
Before the announced appointment, Thornton served as the special agent in charge of the FBI's San Francisco division. Taking over the special agent in charge responsibilities in San Francisco will be Stephanie Douglas.
Douglas, who has investigated violent crimes and issues of public corruption, most recently was the deputy assistant director of the counterintelligence division at FBI headquarters, where she was responsible for sensitive national-security and criminal matters.
