The seven-day training course, sponsored by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, included four international security experts who addressed strengthening travel-document security in Turkmenistan, the OSCE reported.

Officials said the training, developed by the OSCE's Action against Terrorism Unit and its borders team, included simulations, exercises and discussions on ensuring document security to counter the trafficking of humans and illicit goods by transnational criminal groups and terrorist organizations in Central Asia.

"Crimes related to forged documents have become a serious security problem worldwide," training instructor Mario Wimmer said in a statement. "Cooperation and sharing of information is absolutely necessary in combating this threat as criminals do not respect international or national borders."
