OAS, Interpol discuss security cooperation

LYON, France, March 16 (UPI) -- Authorities from Interpol and the Organization of American States recently met to discuss ways the two organizations could strengthen cooperation.

Alexandre Addor-Neto, OAS secretary for multidimensional security, led a delegation to meet with Jean-Michel Louboutin, Interpol's executive director of police services, along with other Interpol officials at the Interpol headquarters in Lyon, France.

Addor-Neto and Louboutin discussed ways Interpol and OAS, a Washington-based organization representing the 35 countries in North and South America, could strengthen cooperation and explore "means of harmonizing OAS regional activities in the security field and Interpol's global initiatives," a news release said.

Officials said Addor-Neto and Louboutin also addressed ways to engage Interpol's tools and services including the Fixed Interpol Network Database/Mobile Interpol Network Database law enforcement database.
