The National Fusion Center Conference, taking place through Thursday in Kansas City, Mo., is comprised of participants from the Homeland Security and Justice departments along with the FBI and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence working on the U.S. National Strategy for Information Sharing and other objectives.

"The TSC's focus on sharing information among federal, state and local authorities has been key to the effectiveness of the terrorist watch list as a counter-terrorism tool," Cory Nelson, TSC deputy director, said in a statement.

"We're grateful to be recognized by the National Fusion Center Conference for those efforts."
