MANILA, Philippines, March 10 (UPI) -- Top government and Moro National Liberation Front leaders in the Philippines are expected to meet Wednesday to review a peace pact.
Representatives from the Philippine government and MNLF, along with third-party facilitator the Organization of the Islamic Conference, will hold a three-day tripartite meeting to discuss the implementation of the 1996 final peace agreement, the Philippine government reported.
Avelino Razon, the Philippine government presidential adviser on the peace process, said the meeting is expected to address issues concerning the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao in the south of the country, along with the potential formation of a regional security force.
Negotiations over the 1996 final peace agreement, which ended long-standing hostilities between the Philippine government and MNLF, will be held at the Heritage Hotel in Pasay City near Manila through Friday.
Razon said key priorities for the meeting include "natural resources and economic development, political system and representation and education," the release said.
