BRUSSELS, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Top officials from NATO and the Organization for Joint Armament Cooperation met in Brussels to sign a deal ensuring the security of classified information.
Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, North Atlantic Treaty Organization secretary-general, held a meeting Thursday at NATO headquarters with Patrick Bellouard, director of the Europe-based multinational defense procurement agency OCCAR.
NATO is currently involved in several OCCAR programs, including the Rolland ground-to-air missile system, the Tiger attack helicopter and the A400M heavy-lift military transport aircraft.
Scheffer and Bellouard met to sign an agreement that ensures NATO's classified information shared with OCCAR is strictly protected and meets the alliance's "requirements and ensure(s) conformity with NATO standardization agreements," the release said.
