TEHRAN, June 1 (UPI) -- Iran is sending paramilitary forces into Tehran in preparation for the anniversary of last year's disputed presidential election, authorities said.

The government is also rearresting activists who were released from prison and cracking down on enforcing public bans against mingling of the sexes and un-Islamic women's clothing, The New York Times said.

Iran's Fars news agency reported that paramilitary forces from around the country have been ordered to Tehran to participate in Friday ceremonies marking the 21st anniversary of the death of the Iranian revolution founder, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

The forces are expected to remain in Tehran until after the June 12 anniversary of the last year's lopsided re-election victory of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, commanders say.

Opponents charge the election was rigged and two opposition leaders have called for a march and demonstration on June 12.
