PYONGYANG, North Korea, April 3 (UPI) -- South Korean officials say Kim Jong-il, the secretive North Korean dictator, may be on a visit to China.
A special train left North Korea, crossing the border Saturday morning to the Chinese city of Dandong, Yonhap News Agency reported. But officials said they could not determine whether Kim was on the train or whether the trip was a dress rehearsal for a future visit to China.
Also Saturday, the Korean Central Broadcasting Station in North Korea reported Kim attended a performance by Mansudae Art Troupe. KCBS did not say when or where Kim made this unusual public appearance.
North Korean news agencies usually report Kim's appearance a day after the fact, suggesting he was at the performance Friday. KCBS also said the audience was a large one, suggesting the performance was in Pyongyang, where Mansudae is based.
