STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- The Swedish government says it is imposing tighter restrictions on pre-flight alcohol consumption among airline pilots and flight crews.
The new restrictions, which take effect in September, set a blood alcohol limit of .02 eight hours before takeoff, The Local reported Saturday. The new rules also apply to cockpit crew and air-traffic control workers on the ground, Radio Sweden said.

Some people can reach the .02 level with one drink, experts say.
The new regulations also increase to six months imprisonment penalties for passengers whose drunken behavior affects aircraft performance. The offense now draws fines but no prison time.
