Boston Bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev indicted

The U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts, Carmen Ortiz, announced Thursday that Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has been indicted by a federal grand jury for his role in the April 15 attack.

Tsarnaev, 19, is one of two brothers accused of carrying out the attack, which killed three people. A fourth victim, a university police officer, died in a gunfight four days later as authorities conducted a manhunt.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was killed during the confrontation. The younger Tsarnaev, who was badly injured in the shootout, has been held in a prison hospital west of Boston since his capture April 19.

A copy of the indictment, obtained by Boston's WBUR, outlines the 30 charges Tsarnaev faces. These include:

Use of a Weapon of Mass Destruction Resulting in Death; Aiding and Abetting (two counts)

Possession and Use of a Firearm During and in Relation to a Crime of Violence Resulting in Death; Aiding and Abetting (ten counts)

Conspiracy to Bomb a Place of Public Use Resulting in Death

Bombing of a Place of Public Use Resulting in Death; Aiding and Abetting (two counts)

Conspiracy to Maliciously Destroy Property Resulting in Personal Injury and Death

Malicious Destruction of Property Resulting in Personal Injury and Death; Aiding and Abetting (two counts)

Carjacking Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury; Aiding and Abetting

Possession and Use of a Firearm During and in Relation To a Crime of Violence; Aiding and Abetting (five counts)

Interference With Commerce by Threats and Violence; Aiding and Abetting

Use of a Weapon of Mass Destruction; Aiding and Abetting (four counts)

The U.S. attorney's office will hold a press conference on the indictment at 3 P.M. Thursday.
