Police are seeing a person of interest for questioning in connection to a shooting that left a Redondo Beach, Calif., man dead Friday.

Erick Julian Ortega, 27, of South Bay, was identified as a person of interest after his Chrysler 300 was found a few blocks from the apartment where Bobby Darren Reynolds was shot multiple times around 8 p.m. Friday night.

"Mr. Reynolds was completely defenseless," said Capt. Jeff Kink of the Redondo Beach police. "This was a cold-blooded heartless attack."

Witnesses said they saw the gunmen run to the Chrysler and speed away. The men appeared to be in their 20s, one wearing an Oakland Raiders shirt and one in a white shirt.

Paramedics treated Reynolds at the scene, where the 38-year-old father was visiting family. He was taken to County Harbor-UCLA Medical center, where he later died.

"Redondo Beach Police Department detectives are actively investigating this murder," Hink said. "It appears that the victim was specifically targeted and that the shooting was not a random event."

Ortega, who has a gang association, has convictions for robbery, threatening to kill someone, resisting arrest, drug possession, and being a felon in possession of ammunition.

He was described as Latino, 5 feet 6 inches tall, about 160 pounds, with numerous tattoos, including a marijuana leaf, a naked woman, and "Redondo how do you want it."
