April 13 (UPI) -- A turbulent week for United Airlines continued Thursday when the company confirmed that a scorpion stung a passenger during a flight.
Richard Bell was traveling with his wife from Houston to Calgary on Sunday when a creature that appeared to be a scorpion fell from an overhead bin and stung him.
"It fell in my hair. I grabbed it. I was hanging onto it by its tail," Bell said.
Linda Bell said she thought it looked like a little lobster.
United spokesman Charles Hobart said the crew -- and a passenger who stomped on the critter -- took immediate action. United employees disposed of it in an airplane toilet.
Medical personnel met the aircraft after it arrived in Calgary. Bell, who described what "felt like a wasp sting," declined medical treatment. EMS spokesperson Adam Loria said Bell showed "no signs of distress."
That might not be the case for United, which sparked outrage earlier this week when a video surfaced of a passenger being dragged off an overbooked flight.
