ATLANTA, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- The financial and legal feud among slain U.S. civil rights icon Martin Luther King's children in Atlanta has been put off until next week.

Preliminary hearings in the dispute were scheduled Friday, but Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville agreed Thursday to reschedule the proceeding for next Wednesday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The late civil rights leader's children are in a legal battle over the management of the King Inc. finances and rights. Bernice King and Martin Luther King III are suing their brother, Dexter King, over his management of the corporation, while Dexter King is counter-suing his siblings, the report said.

Dexter King negotiated a $1.4 million book contract about his late mother, Coretta Scott King and sued his siblings over the release of love letters his father wrote to her, the report said.

The trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 12 in Atlanta.
