Report: No evidence girl would be harmed

ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Investigators have found no evidence an Ohio couple planned to harm their 17-year-old Muslim daughter because she converted to Christianity, officials said.

Fathima Rifqa Bary ran away from her home in Columbus in July and sought shelter with two Christian pastors in Orlando, Fla., before being ordered into state custody in Florida.

State investigators in Ohio and Florida have said they found no evidence that Mohammad Bary and Aysha Bary planned to hurt their daughter, WOFL-TV, Orlando, reported Monday.

Circuit Judge Daniel Dawson, of Orlando, was to consider the parents' request to dismiss the case and return Bary to them, WOFL-TV reported.

Bary's parents have said they believed she was influenced by Christian friends in Columbus and then brainwashed by Christian pastors who encouraged her to convert and stay in Florida, CNN reported earlier this month.
