CHICAGO, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- The battle for control of a scandal-ridden Illinois cemetery where graves were resold has been postponed until next Tuesday, a judge in Chicago has decided.
U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Pamela Hollis continued a hearing on whether management of Burr Oak Cemetery in Alsip, Ill. should be returned to the firm that owns it, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday.
Under bankruptcy rules cemetery owner Perpetua Holdings of Illinois should regain control of the Cook County facility.
However, the Illinois Attorney General's office wants a trustee appointed to oversee the facility.
The two sides were unable to reach agreement during a hearing Thursday in Hollis' courtroom.
Four workers at Burr Oak Cemetery accused of digging up hundreds of bodies and re-selling the grave sites for cash have pleaded innocent.
