ASHKELON, Israel, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- A suspected top Israeli crime boss and 14 alleged associates have been arrested on money laundering charges, officials said Tuesday.

Shalom Domrani of Ashkelon, Israel, was taken into custody as part of a criminal probe known as "Autumn wind," in which police staged some 220 raids on the homes of Domrani and alleged members of his criminal ring in Ashkelon, Bat Yam, Rishon Letzion and Moshav Otzem, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported.

The police were members of Lahav 433, an economic fraud unit, the newspaper said. In the raids, they reportedly seized Domrani's private "bank."

Domrani and his alleged associates were set to appear Tuesday in Ramle District Court, Haaretz said.
