Video of missing boy released

OAKLAND, Calif., Sept. 1 (UPI) -- A video released Tuesday by Oakland, Calif., police shows a 5-year-old boy with his foster father four days before Hasanni Campbell was reported missing.

The video, captured by a security camera at a Wal-Mart in Fremont, is the last known sighting of Hasanni by anyone but his foster parents, acting Police Chief Howard Jordan said. It shows Hasanni with Louis Ross, both pushing a shopping cart.

Police arrested Ross and Hasanni's foster mother, Jennifer Campbell, were arrested Friday with investigators saying the boy, who has cerebral palsy, had probably been killed. The Alameda County District Attorney ordered Campbell freed Monday and said Tuesday there was not enough evidence to charge Ross.

Ross reported Hasanni missing Aug. 10, saying he vanished while briefly left alone at the backdoor of a shoe store where Campbell works. Jordan suggested the trip to Fremont ended badly.

"We know for a fact Hasanni Campbell never made it to Oakland that day," Jordan said.

Campbell, after her release, denied either she or Ross had injured Hasanni, saying they would not do it for "anything in the world."
