Foster parents of missing boy arrested

FREMONT, Calif., Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Police in Oakland, Calif., say the foster parents of missing 5-year-old Hasanni Campbell have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Oakland Police said the Aug. 10 disappearance of the disabled child is now being considered a homicide case and the boy's parents, Louis Ross and Jennifer Campbell, have been brought in for questioning Friday, the Oakland (Calif.) Tribune reported.

Oakland Police Department spokesman Officer Jeff Thomason said no body has yet to be found in the missing person case.

Ross maintains his foster son, who wore leg braces and suffered from cerebral palsy, went missing from his car on Aug. 10 when he visited his wife at an Oakland business.

Jennifer Campbell, the boy's aunt, and Ross have both offered pleas for the boy's safe return since his disappearance.

The Tribune said during the investigation into the disappearance, Ross failed a polygraph test and investigators conducted two separate searches of the family's home in Fremont, Calif.
