CHICAGO, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- If Chicago wins the 2016 Summer Olympics, opening ceremony tickets could cost as much as $1,645 plus $148 in taxes, a research organization says.
An analysis of the city's bid released by The Civic Federation of Chicago indicates the per-person cost of producing opening ceremonies will be a lot more than the $1,216 ticket price the city listed in its bid book, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday.
The newspaper says the Civic Federation analysis of the bid also revealed that salaries for top Olympic executives would go as high as $550,000 and the organizing committee would directly employ 4,964 people.
Because Chicago is not planning any permanent transportation improvements, the Civic Federation estimates that Olympic spectators may be forced to pay higher fares than routine passengers.
The city's $225 million transit plan relies on park-and-ride locations "outside the city center" and shuttle buses to transport spectators
