Group advancing fight for condoms in porn

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- AIDS Healthcare Foundation officials say they are filing complaints against California production companies to promote the use of condoms in porn videos.

Foundation President Michael Weinstein alleges 16 production companies operating out of California have violated workplace safety laws by not having their actors wear condoms while filming pornographic scenes for videos, the Los Angeles Times said Thursday.

"You can go to any porn shop or any hotel and pull up incontrovertible evidence against every one of these companies," said Weinstein, whose group planned on filing the complaints with state officials on Thursday. "Is there anything today that prevents them from going in and finding any of these porn sites to be dangerous workplaces?"

The healthcare group previously attempted to increase the use of condoms by adult video performers by suing Los Angeles County in July, the Times said.

The lawsuit alleges public health officials failed to take steps to protect adult video workers from exposure to bodily fluids and prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.
