MOGADISHU, Somalia, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- At least two civilians died Sunday in a land mine explosion targeting a truck transporting Somali soldiers in Mogadishu, witnesses said.
The blast could be heard throughout Mogadishu's Waberi district, witnesses told the Shabelle Media Network.
There was no immediate information on who was responsible for the blast.
Soldiers from the transitional government have previously come under attack while traveling through the Somali capital, Shabelle reported.
Saturday, 10 people died when rebels shelled the largest market in Mogadishu, the Somali capital, witnesses said. Another 12 people were injured in Bakara Market, Shabelle reported.
Witnesses said most of those hit were civilians.
