JERUSALEM, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- The family of the late Egyptian President Anwar Sadat has sued an official for allowing the showing of an American movie with a dog named after their father.

Rukiya Sadat, the late president's daughter, has requested the withdrawal of the film, which is showing in local theaters, the al-Arabia network reported Thursday. She also demanded an apology from the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, Egyptian and Israeli media reported.

Rukiya sued the Egyptian minister of information, Anas-el-Fiqqi, and demanded an immediate halt to the movie's screening, the reports said.

The film, called " I Love You Man," shows the main character walking a dog he said he named after Anwar Sadat because they look alike, the reports said.

Sadat's family said the movie not only insulted and tarnished the reputation of Sadat but also that of Egypt, reports said.

Sadat's nephew, Mohammed Asmat Sadat, told an Egyptian television station the family does not want to suppress freedom of speech but to preserve the reputation of one of Egypt's most historic figures, who paid with his life for peace and stability in the region, Haaretz said.
