Relatives admit lying about businessman

TAMPA, Fla., July 28 (UPI) -- Three relatives of a wealthy Florida businessman say they lied when they accused him of molesting and impregnating his niece.

The admission came as part of plea agreement made by the relatives of Lazydays RV Super Center founder Don Wallace, who were charged with trying to blackmail him out of $1.2 million, The St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported.

Wallace's niece, Samantha Harris; his sister, Marion "Connie" Strickland; and his brother-in-law, Clyde Strickland, Tuesday were sentenced to 15-year probation terms after pleading guilty to one count each of extortion and conspiracy to commit extortion, the newspaper said.

During the sentencing in Hillsborough Circuit Court in Tampa, Wallace, 60, asked his relatives to apologize for the pain they caused, saying they hurt not only him but his wife, Erika.

"Everything you had to say about me and Samantha was a lie," the Times quoted Wallace as saying. "A rotten, filthy lie, the worst thing you could say about somebody. You should be so ashamed."
