Palm print key in twin brother's death

COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 28 (UPI) -- A palm print could determine whether a Columbus, Ohio, man is retried for the death of his identical twin, authorities said.

Derris Lewis, 19, is charged with with aggravated murder in the death of his brother Dennis, who was killed Jan. 18, 2008, the Columbus Dispatch reported Tuesday.

Their mother has said three masked men robbed her in the family's home and Dennis was shot and killed during a struggle. Derris Lewis has said he was at his girlfriend's home when his brother was killed.

Derris Lewis's first trial ended in a mistrial in March. During the trial, a police analyst testified Derris left a bloody palm print on Dennis Lewis's bedroom wall. Defense lawyers maintain the print was not in blood and could have been left at any time.

Lead defense lawyer Adam Neimann said he hopes to discredit the print and have the murder charge dropped, the Dispatch reported. Prosecutors declined to comment.
