Fla. dad not helping police in son's death

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., July 21 (UPI) -- Police say their investigation of the slaying of a 13-year-old Daytona Beach, Fla., boy is being hampered by his father's alleged lack of cooperation.

Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood says the father of victim Lloyd Robinson Jr., 13, has given police false information in the arrest of a 16-year-old who may be part of the investigation, The Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported Tuesday.

Chitwood said Lloyd Robinson Sr., 38, gave investigators a false name and a bad description for the 16-year-old son of his girlfriend, who was arrested on a drug charge. Whether that arrest is connected to the slaying of Robinson's son is unclear, the newspaper said.

Police said a man shot Lloyd Robinson Jr. in the face through a glass door window at 4:20 a.m. Monday, also grazing his father, before fleeing with a female accomplice in a vehicle. The boy was in Daytona Beach visiting his father.

The Sentinel said police records show Lloyd Robinson Sr. spent four years in prison on charges of lewd and lascivious assault on a child under 16, possession of cocaine and weapon charges.
