Gazan planning attacks in Israel nabbed

JERUSALEM, July 6 (UPI) -- A Palestinian who planned to set up a terror cell in the West Bank and perpetrate attacks against Israeli targets has been arrested by Israeli security forces.

Abed El Rahman Talalkeh, 25, was arrested in a joint operation conducted by the Israel Security Agency and Israel police in the early morning hours of June 1 after he crossed into Israel from the Sinai Peninsula, a statement released by the ISA said Sunday.

Talalkeh admitted to undergoing extensive military training by operatives the Popular Resistance Committee in the Gaza Strip in preparation for the attack, the agency said. Details released for publication indicated Talalkeh was taught to prepare bombs, including car bombs and bomb belts, trained in the use explosives, tracking devices, navigation and map reading, as well as intelligence surveillance techniques.

Talalkeh a resident of the Nueseirat refugee camp in Gaza was instructed to recruit members for the West Bank cell and train and prepare operatives to perpetrate suicide bomb attacks inside Israel and to kidnap Israeli soldiers, the agency said. He was also requested to compile information on Israeli army bases in preparation for attacks.

Talalkeh was indicted in the Beersheba Magistrates Court Sunday for entering Israeli illegally and planning to set up a terror cell, local media reports said.
