London WHO report: No swine flu in Croatia

ZAGREB, Croatia, June 16 (UPI) -- The World Health Organization said it erred in reporting a case of the H1N1 flu virus in Croatia, admitting the patient had a garden-variety flu.

Only hours after advising the Croatian Health Ministry Monday that blood tests proved a Croatian man had the H1N1 virus, widely known as the swine flu, the WHO London center retracted its original report and apologized to Zagreb health authorities.

Croatian Health Minister Darko Milinovic told reporters the erroneous report was the result of "technical contamination" of the blood sample, the Jutarnji List daily reported Tuesday.
