BOSTON, June 12 (UPI) -- The man known by the name Clark Rockefeller was sentenced Friday to as long as five years in a Massachusetts prison for kidnapping his daughter.
The judge imposed sentence a few hours after Rockefeller was convicted of parental kidnapping and assaulting a social worker who was supervising his visit with the little girl, CNN reported.
Jurors were in their fifth day of deliberations when they reached a verdict Friday morning, the Boston Globe said. Rockefeller pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
Investigators say Rockefeller is Christian Gerhartsreiter of Bergen, Germany, who came to the United States as an 18-year-old exchange student in 1979. Police in California have described him as a person of interest in the disappearance of Jonathan and Linda Sohus, who vanished in 1995 while he was living on their property, using the name Christopher Chichester.
Rockefeller married and divorced in Boston, becoming the father of Reigh Storrow Mills Boss. In July 2008, he grabbed the little girl during a supervised visit in Boston and shoved the social worker away, fleeing with his daughter in a car. He was arrested a few days later in Baltimore.
