Coed's mom: Will never get over death

PERUGIA, Italy, June 7 (UPI) -- The mother of slain British coed Meredith Kercher says she will never get over the shock and brutality of her daughter's 2007 death in Perugia, Italy.

Arline Kercher, 63, testified Saturday for the first time in the murder trial of Meredith Kercher's one-time American roommate, Amanda Knox, 21, and Knox's former Italian boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito, 25. Arline Kercher said her 21-year-old daughter's sexual assault and death from a cut throat will always haunt her family, The Sunday Telegraph reported.

"It was unbelievable, unreal and in many ways it still is -- I am still looking for her," Kercher told the court. "It's not just her death, it's the nature of it, the brutality, the violence and the great sorrow it brought for everyone -- it was such a shock.

"You send your daughter away to study and she doesn't come back. We will never, ever get over it."

Prosecutors say Knox, Sollecito and another man killed Meredith Kercher when she refused to participate in a drug-fueled sex game.
