BEIJING, June 7 (UPI) -- Chinese anti-terror exercises this year will be centered in Beijing, surrounding provinces and the Inner Mongolia region, a government officials said.
The weeklong "Great Wall-6" exercise beginning Tuesday will test the capabilities in the designated areas to combat terrorism and deal with emergencies, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported, quoting the official.
The exercise will involve various techniques and forms and use a variety of anti-terror forces, the report said. Similar annual exercises have been held in the past in other areas of the country.
China's concerns about terrorism stem largely from the unrest between Uighur Muslims and Han Chinese in the Xinjiang region in the northwest bordering Central Asia, and from demands for more autonomy in Tibet.
