SEOUL, May 30 (UPI) -- North Korea seems to be preparing for another long-range ballistic missile test-firing, South Korean military sources say.
Unnamed official sources told the South Korean Yonhap News Agency Saturday that an object appearing to be an intercontinental ballistic missile was seen being carried on a cargo train at an artillery research center near Pyongyang.
The source told Yonhap, "We believe that the object is certainly an ICBM," adding that the missile's size appears similar to a long-range missile fired April 5 in what Pyongyang said was satellite launch. It is believed to be headed to a missile launch pad in Musudan-ri on the country's east coast.
"The missile may be a modified version of a Taepodong-2 missile, which can travel over 2,400 miles," the official said. "It usually takes about two months to set up a launch pad, but the process could be done in as little as two weeks, which means the North could launch a long-range missile as early as mid-June."
The missile movement comes as U.N. Security Council members were crafting a resolution to punish Pyongyang it for its recent nuclear test, observers said.
