Search on for 8-year-old girl's body

WOODSTOCK, Ontario, May 21 (UPI) -- Police helicopters and sniffer dogs searched for a second day Thursday for the remains of an 8-year-old Canadian girl abducted in Ontario six weeks ago.

The search began Wednesday near Guelph, Ontario, 50 miles northeast of Victoria Stafford's hometown of Woodstock, where police announced a man and woman had been arrested for her disappearance and death, the Toronto Star reported.

Ontario Provincial Police homicide Detective-Inspector Bill Renton told a news conference very little about the case and wouldn't comment on whether there was a sexual component to the death, the Toronto Sun reported.

Michael Rafferty, 28, and Terri-Lynne McClintic, 18, were jailed Wednesday pending a May 28 video hearing, police said.

The girl known as Tori was last seen on a security camera video April 8 leaving school with a woman wearing a white coat. Police said the woman arrested knew the girl's mother, but didn't elaborate on the relationship, the Sun said.
