ANCHORAGE, Alaska, May 13 (UPI) -- Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she has signed a book deal with HarperCollins Publishers to produce a memoir, which is due out by next spring.
Neither Palin nor HarperCollins would reveal how much of an advance the former Republican U.S. vice presidential nominee would receive, saying the issue would distract from the book's substance, the Anchorage Daily News reported Wednesday.
"There have been so many things written and said through mainstream media that have not been accurate, and it will be nice through an unfiltered forum to get to speak truthfully about who we are and what we stand for and what Alaska is all about," Palin told the newspaper.
Washington attorney Robert Barnett, who acted as Palin's agent in shopping a book deal, said HarperCollins was "first and fervent" in pursuing the project.
HarperCollins President and Chief Executive Officer Brian Murray told the Daily News the book will allow Palin to recount her life as the mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, her experiences as the first female governor of Alaska as well as her meteoric rise to international fame and controversy as the running mate of Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain of Arizona.
