13 killed in Pakistan drone attack

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, April 4 (UPI) -- Rockets fired from a U.S. drone killed 13 people at an alleged militant hideout in Pakistan's tribal region Saturday, sources say.

Unnamed intelligence officials and residents told Pakistan's English language newspaper Dawn the attack by the unmanned aircraft in North Waziristan killed local and foreign militants, as well as women and children.

Meanwhile, a suicide truck bomb blast at a security checkpoint in Pakistan's tribal region killed at least 10 people Saturday, an official said.

An unnamed Pakistani military official told CNN that security forces fired at a truck packed with explosives as it approached a checkpoint in North Waziristan Saturday afternoon. The truck reportedly rammed the checkpoint and exploded, killing bystanders and pedestrians, including five children.
