NYPD nabs archer who skewered woman

NEW YORK, March 20 (UPI) -- New York police announced the arrest of a suspect in an apparent accident that left a woman with an arrow in her stomach.

Eric Collins, 27, was picked up in the Bronx neighborhood where Denise Brown was hit by an arrow last weekend, The New York Times said Friday.

Police believe Collins shot the arrow at a fence, but the missile sailed right through the fence and struck Brown in the stomach as she got out of a car.

Brown underwent surgery and went home from the hospital Thursday.

Collins was charged with assault, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon although, the newspaper noted, it is not illegal to own a bow and arrow in New York.
