Sharif sees 'ray of hope' in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, March 6 (UPI) -- Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said Friday he sees a "ray of hope" that will likely lead to major changes in the country.

Amid Sharif's message of hope at a rally Friday, the former prime minister reiterated his opposition to Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and his political dealings, the PakTribune said.

"You will not have to wait anymore as now I am seeing a ray of hope in this country. The change is knocking at the door and you people will not deprive of your rights anymore," Sharif said.

Sharif has repeatedly accused Zardari of influencing the country's Supreme Court in order to earn a ruling that Sharif and his brother, Shehbaz, cannot hold public office positions.

"Mr. President! Take at least your own party on board in your decisions that you are making against us. You betrayed us. We shook hands with you without any precondition and you cheated," Sharif said.
