HARTFORD, Conn., March 3 (UPI) -- Eleven Delta Airlines workers and baggage handlers at Connecticut's Bradley International Airport have been arrested on theft charges, officials said.
The arrests came after a six-month investigation in which Connecticut state troopers allegedly discovered stolen laptop computers, flat screen TVs, cameras and iPods, WTNH-TV, New Haven, Conn., reported Tuesday.
Also allegedly found among the loot were earrings, watches, jewelry and five-foot-tall wooden African masks, the report said. Charges leveled at the employees range from larceny and conspiracy to burglary and receiving a bribe, as well as evidence tampering, police indicated.
The theft of property from airline baggage has been made easier because of security rules prohibiting travelers from locking their luggage, WTNH said.
