HEFEI, China, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Police in China's Anhui Province said nine people were killed and at least 20 injured Wednesday in an expressway pileup involving more than 10 vehicles.
Investigators said the vehicles, including three buses and several minibuses, collided at about 8:20 a.m. Wednesday on the Beijing-Taibei expressway, Xinhua, China's official government-run news agency, reported Wednesday.

Rescuers said four people died in a car that was buried under a truck as a result of the collision.
The pileup, which is under investigation, left nearly 100 people stranded in damaged and trapped cars, police said. Traffic resumed on the expressway at 10:30 a.m.
