PRAGUE, Czech Republic, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Former Czech President Vaclav Havel has suffered complications in his battle against pulmonary problems and his condition is unstable, doctors say.
Havel remains seriously ill and underwent an intensive rehabilitation regime Monday in response to a recurring lung inflammation, medical experts caring for Havel told CTK.
"The course of the illness is unstable. Deterioration follows improvement and vice versa," head doctor Martina Pelichovska told the news service at the Prague-Motol Teaching Hospital, explaining that Havel's right lung lobe got clogged Saturday, but an intensive rehabilitation helped treat the problem.
However, the complications recurred again Monday, afflicting the right lung lower lobe that became partially clogged, she said.
Havel, 72, who has long suffered from health problems, underwent minor surgery to remove inflammation in his throat last week, CTK said.
