RACINE, Wis., Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Gary Becker, the mayor of Racine, Wis., attempted to organize a sexual rendezvous with an individual he thought was a teenage girl, authorities allege.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel said Thursday Becker was arrested this week by the state's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, along with more than 475 other people.

State task force officials said Tuesday's arrest of the 51-year-old married father-of-two could result in charges ranging from child enticement to possession of child pornography.

Becker allegedly organized the clandestine meeting with a Division of Criminal Investigation official posing as a teenage girl through the Internet, authorities said.

An unidentified source said the Racine mayor had been under suspicion since late last year when he asked City Hall workers to fix a problem with his personal computer.

The source told the Journal Sentinel the workers allegedly found something of interest on the computer and handed the machine over to police.
