Woman kept in cellar moves to new home

VIENNA, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- The Austrian woman imprisoned and raped repeatedly her father over a 24-year period left a clinic with her children, and moved to a new home, her attorney said.

Elisabeth Fritzl, 42, had been living in the clinic with her six children fathered by her father, Josef Fritzl, since leaving the cellar where she was kept prisoner for 24 years, The Daily Telegraph reported Tuesday.

During the 24 years Elisabeth Fritzl was held captive in a cellar and raped by her father, she bore seven children by him, one of whom died shortly after birth. Three children were taken upstairs to live with Fritzl and his wife while three remained in the cellar with their mother, never having seen daylight until last April, when one was hospitalized and brought the scandal to light.

Elizabeth Fritzl and all of her children reunited at a clinic in Amstetten-Mauer, where they received medical care and were shielded from the media, the British newspaper said.

Austrian authorities charged the 73-year-old Fritzl with murder, rape, sequestration, incest, grievous assault and slavery. His trial is expected to begin in March.
