No charges over nude cell-phone pics

PINCKNEY, Mich., Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Authorities say they won't press charges against students at a Michigan high school for sending nude pictures to classmates' cell phones.

Eight teenagers at Pinckney High School faced the prospect of cyber-porn charges for allegedly forwarding an image that a classmate had taken of herself to about 200 different people.

The Detroit News said Tuesday that Livingston County prosecutors decided the suspensions handed out to 20 Pinckney students along with the embarrassing national media coverage was punishment enough.

"We don't think there was any sinister, sexual intent in any of this," said Prosecutor David Morse. "It was kids doing what kids sometimes do, and because they're kids they're sometimes immature and irresponsible."

To ensure that there are no more such incidents, the school district has developed a three-part seminar for Pinckney parents on how to stay on top of their tech-savvy teenagers.
