Autopsy of body found in freezer pending

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Authorities in West Palm Beach, Fla., say they are waiting for an autopsy to be conducted on the body of an elderly man found inside a home's freezer.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Teri Barbera said the body of the unidentified senior citizen was found following the apparent suicide of the man's son, the Palm Beach Post reported Monday.

Barbera said the man's son was found asphyxiated in a van after the apparent suicide victim's teenage son found a suicide note in a West Palm Beach home Saturday.

Authorities responding to the call of a possible suicide located the body of the teenager's grandfather in a freezer in the victim's home.

The teen's father allegedly said in a suicide note he had frozen the body of his own father, who was in his 80s, after the senior died. Authorities told the Post the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner's Office would conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
